Let's Move! in Indian Country Physical Activity Challenge

It’s summertime, which means there are plenty of opportunities for physical activity at the Club. Join Let’s Move! in Indian Country and sign up for its physical activity challenge, which supports the Presidential Active Lifestyle Award (PALA+). This challenge is for anyone, from students to seniors, but it’s geared toward people who want to set themselves on the road to a healthier life through positive changes to physical activity and eating behaviors.  Plus, your Club members and adult leaders will earn an award upon completion. Study Abroad Opportunity in Turkey

The Turkish Coalition of America wants to increase the number of minority students who study abroad. In partnership with Diversity Abroad 100 scholarships will be awarded to minority students, including Native Americans, to use to study in Turkey. Undergraduate and graduate students who have been accepted into a program in Turkey or the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus for a semester or a summer are eligible to apply to receive these awards.

Amount: $500-$2,000

Crow Canyon Archaeological Center Summer Programs

Sign up for one of three different summer programs with the Crow Canyon Archaeological Center in Cortez, Colorado. These programs range from one to three weeks and are for middle and high school students interested in studying archaeology. Students will learn about the past through hands-on activities, lively discussions, and unique field trips. The center also offers scholarships specifically for Native American students to cover program costs and room and board.  For more information, call 1-800-422-8975 ext. 146.

Do Something Youth Grants for Disaster Preparedness Projects

Do Something and the Dunkin Brands Community Foundation have partnered to offer Disaster Grants to young people across the United States and Canada. The weekly grant program will help support young people with ideas for community service projects around the themes of disaster preparedness and emergency response. Possible project ideas include rebuilding homes in New Orleans, planning an emergency coat drive for families in crisis during the winter months, or collecting toys for kids who have been through a natural disaster.
