Event Description

The Generation Indigenous (Gen-I) Youth Challenge gets youth engaged in something positive by encouraging them to capture positive community impact and share it with others. As part of the process of establishing the National Native Youth Network, all Native youth are invited to take part in the Gen-I Challenge.

The Challenge is for youth ages 14-24, non-profits, and educational institutions; your Club can accept the challenge and follow the action steps below to join the effort!

Step 1: ACT

Within 30 days of taking the challenge, Club youth should work with other youth in their community and/or Club to do something positive, such as completing a volunteer project, hosting a meeting with other youth to brainstorm how to address an issue of concern in their community, or becoming a mentor to a younger person. Club members can use this Toolkit from the National Native Youth Network and their partners to help in this work. Your local Tribal youth council, urban Tribal youth group, or Native youth organization can also be a resource.

Document your community efforts through a short summary (3-4 sentences) and with photos and video!

Step 3: SHARE

Share your story online using the hashtag #Gen-I and send the National Native Youth Network your story. They – or even the White House – may share your story!

Take part in Gen-I Calls, Chats, and sign up to be an Ambassador. By participating in the Network, youth will be eligible to participate in Center for Native American Youth (CNAY) events.
