Award Winning Recruitment, Outreach, and Membership

The Boy & Girls Club of Delaware County, located in Jay, OK, recently was awarded the Recruitment, Outreach, and Membership award for their outstanding efforts and hard work! Chief Professional Officer, Randy Keller, attributes their success to their National Children's Day Parade and Event which started with a vision from their Boys & Girls Clubs in Indian Country AmeriCorps*VISTA member, June Hinderliter!

During the first annual event, the day began with a parade through town that involved Club members and youth, as well as organizations such as churches, businesses, and civic groups. One boy Club member and one girl Club member were each selected to be the parade Grand Marshalls by nominations of the five Unit Directors. The parade ended at the city park where free lunch and many great activities were waiting for parents and youth alike to enjoy. The event incorporated fun activities such as face painting, inflatable toys, and free swimming in the city pool. In addition to the Club, other youth serving organizations joined in on the fun by having informational booths about their programs and services.

The Club is excited for their second annual National Children's Day Parade and Event to take place on June 7, 2014! Congratulation again to the Boys & Girls Club of Delaware County and their success on recruitment, outreach, and membership!
