Conehatta Boys & Girls Club Dreams Big as a Contest Finalist

Conehatta Boys & Girls Club, located in Conehatta, MS with an affiliation to the of the Mississippi Band of Choctaw Indians, dare to dream has paid off as they are now a finalist in the Blue Door Decorating Contest presented by Boys & Girls Clubs of America (BGCA) and Lowes Home Improvement in preparation for National Boys & Girls Clubs Week. Through this annual contest, Clubs were invited to open their doors and tell the story of their Movement by decorating the symbolic blue doors to illustrate why great futures start with Boys & Girls Clubs. After reviewing hundreds of applicants nationwide, the field was narrowed down to six Clubs who hope to win the grand prize, a $5,000 gift card from Lowes.

With their “Dare to Dream” theme, the Conehatta Club youth created a door to depict a personalized look at how great futures start with Club involvement. The Club encourages their members to dream about a great future through preparation for higher education by arranging visits to universities as well as hosting volunteers who are enrolled in college to help youth recognize their potentional.
