Celebrating Random Acts of Kindness

“Kind words and actions can seem so small, but their effects are truly endless.”  -Unknown

On February 17th join your fellow citizens in celebrating National Random Acts of Kindness Day, a day observed each year to encourage gentleness and compassion! Sometimes in going about our day to day lives, we can lose sight of the small gestures that actually make a big difference for an individual. We may underestimate the strength of simple expressions like a smile or a listening ear, but we all have the ability to brighten someone’s day. National Random Acts of Kindness Day invites everyone to be a light in the life of anyone you may cross paths with, such as your neighbor, gas attendant, or bank teller.

Your Club can participate in National Random Acts of Kindness Day too! Consider having youth make notes of nice, selfless things they can do throughout the day for their friends, families, and staff at the Club! Have them write a letter about someone who inspires them, or volunteer to assist with program activities. No matter what the act of kindness is, they will know that it’s making a difference. After all, it only takes one candle to light a room!
