Native American Boys & Girls Club Partners with Their Local Juvenile Department of Corrections

The Boys & Girls Clubs of Greater Scottsdale - Salt River Pima-Maricopa Indian Community Department of Juvenile Corrections Program (BGCGS-SRPMIC DJCP) is the first, full-time Club located in a correctional facility in Indian Country, and their impact has been multi-facetted. A decrease in repeat offenders, a decrease in recidivism rate, and even a decrease in the annual cost for the Salt River Pima-Maricopa Indian Community Department of Juvenile Corrections. Check out the numbers yourself!

The Boys & Girls Clubs of Greater Scottsdale also has two complimentary programs to their department of juvenile corrections program;

  • The Accelerated Learning Academy (ALA) is a credit recovery school that provides an opportunity for youth who have fallen behind in high school credits, for many different reasons, to achieve their goal of graduation.
  • The Diverting Our Native Teens (DONT) Program is a collaborative effort between the Club, SRPMIC DJCP, and the Salt River Probation Department that focuses on providing youth in the early stages of the juvenile justice system, an opportunity to find an alternative path than incarceration.
