AmeriCorps VISTA Application November 2017-2018

Greetings Native Boys & Girls Clubs!

We are pleased to announce the opening of the November application for the Boys & Girls Clubs in Indian Country AmeriCorps VISTA Project for the 2017-2018 grant year. All Boys & Girls Clubs that serve Native youth are encouraged to apply for this opportunity.

An online application, Letter(s) of Support, Video, and a Signature Page are due by 11:59pm EDT on May 10, 2017. Award of a VISTA member(s) will be announced via email by late spring 2017.

What is a VISTA member?

AmeriCorps VISTA members
Serve at the Club for 1-year.
Build capacity. They do not participate in direct service.
Receive a living allowance, health and dental coverage, relocation allowance, national training, and a Segal Education Award or end-of-service stipend.
Local or national recruits.

To apply, follow these steps:

Step 1: Review the Application Questions & Scoring Rubric.
The rubric is for your reference only. Do not try to complete the application on this PDF as applications will only be accepted through Survey Monkey.

Step 2: Attend an Informational and Application Webinar for Club Organizations who want to host an AmeriCorps VISTA member. (Optional)
FirstPic, Inc. will host one Webinar to provide information about this project, as well as review of the application, and provide assistance on writing a strong application. The process is very competitive so we encourage attendance. Webinar details are below.

Step 3: Letter of Support (Board, Tribe, Community Partner)
Each organization must submit at least one letter of support from a partner within their community. 

Step 4: Complete the Application in Survey Monkey.
Make sure to complete each page of the application. You must complete each required question before moving on to the next page. Please note that you also may not save the application and come back to it later. Review the Application Questions and Scoring Rubric described in Step 1 prior to beginning your application so you are aware of what information detail will be required. Complete the online application via SurveyMonkey. 

Step 5: Submit the Application Signature Page.
The application needs to be signed by the Organization’s Chief Professional Officer, Unit Director, and Site Supervisor (if you already have one).
